Organizational History

Founded in 2023 by a group of students at the engineering faculty, the Stellenbosch University AI Society emerged from a shared interest in artificial intelligence. The launch of ChatGPT served as a key catalyst, making it clear that AI's influence would extend far beyond technical fields and impact all academic disciplines. Recognizing this, the society was established to create an interdisciplinary community, aiming to equip members from all academic backgrounds with the necessary knowledge and tools for this new age.
