😁 About Me

Hi Everyone! My name is Alice Saito. I am half Japanese, half Russian, but I grew up in Hong Kong! I am currently a 3rd-year bachelor's student at the University of Tokyo, studying in the English program, specialising in international relations and East Asian studies. Outside of my major, I am also interested in Human Rights, Cybersecurity and how AI has influenced these disciplines. Apart from academics, I enjoy art, design and cooking! 

I joined GTC because I saw this as a great opportunity to create and be a part of a community of motivated individuals. Enrolling in the AI+X research program was already a huge step for me, so I wanted to see what I could do with the knowledge I have gained from this experience.

🏆 Achievements & Honors

  • Received scholarship to participate in International Honors Program at Stanford University (2024). Completed studies in Computer Science and Astrophysics.  

  • Runner up in ICRC International Humanitarian Law Role Play Competition (National Round)

  • Harvard Book Award (2020) issued by The Harvard Club of Hong Kong for academic excellence, service commitment and leadership.

  • ESF Chairman’s Award for Excellence (2022) issued by the English Schools Foundations for exceptional performance in IB.

  • Founder of Azalea Charity Fashion Show (2021). Featured on South China Morning Post news. 

Experience

  • Global Leadership Program (GLP-GEFIL) Selected Participant (1 of 100)

    Collaborated with team of 3 on a project addressing gender inequality, focusing on the gender gap at the University of Tokyo. Created a documentary to raise awareness and presented the findings, promoting dialogue and action on the issue.

  • Field Trip to Timor-Leste 

    Conducted fieldwork on Peacebuilding in Timor-Leste 

  • Volunteer at ACUNS (Academic Council on the United Nations System) Annual Meeting 2024
