Touching Lives with Technology: My Journey to Becoming a Mediark AI Engineer

09/08/2025

From the summer of my sophomore year to the summer of my junior year in high school, I volunteered at a hospice ward, listening to the stories of patients and their families. Some moments were heart-wrenching—like when someone who greeted me with a bright smile in the morning passed away quietly by night. Others were deeply moving, like when a patient, tears in their eyes, held my hand and whispered, “Thank you.” These experiences taught me the preciousness of life and sparked a dream to protect people’s health and happiness through technology.

From February to August 2025, I immersed myself in medical AI projects during the seven-month MIT xPro - Blended Learning program. Building models to detect diseases early using medical imaging data, I realized AI isn’t just technology—it’s a tool to save lives. The excitement and confidence I gained gave me faith that AI could change the world for the better.

One day, I stumbled upon Mediark, a startup whose vision—“Make the World Better and Healthier”—captured my heart. I wasn’t looking to join a company, but I longed to connect with someone who shared my dream. So, I mustered the courage to email the CEO, simply wanting to talk about our shared vision. To my surprise, they responded warmly, and after our conversation, they invited me to join the team. That’s how, in September 2025, I took my first steps as an AI Engineer at Mediark.

The empathy I learned at the hospice ward became a core value in my life, shaping how I approach AI. At MIT xPro, I honed skills in deep learning and medical data analysis, learning to tackle problems from multiple angles, which has been invaluable in designing patient-centered AI solutions at Mediark.

My lifelong-vision is for people to find true happiness in their lives. At Mediark, I’m developing AI to assist with medical consultations, helping patients get faster, more accurate care. Looking ahead, I want to share my values through medical AI workshops and educational programs for students, while bringing health and hope to underserved communities. By creating personalized healthcare solutions and improving diagnostic accuracy through data integration, I hope to build a world where everyone can live healthier lives.

I believe that skill, a clear vision, and the courage to take a step forward create opportunities. The warmth and pain I felt at the hospice, the passion I poured into this 7-month Program, and the connection with Mediark’s CEO brought me here. As a Mediark AI Engineer, I want to keep using technology to touch lives and offer a small spark of hope to those who need it most.
